Accelerating energy‑infrastructure development requires clearer choices
The MIEK has strengthened the energy infrastructure, but still calls for sharper choices to accelerate the energy transition. This is shown in the TNO reflection on the MIEK.

I am Marlien Sneller, Consultant Sustainable Innovation and Transition at TNO Vector. I contribute to realizing the energy and heat transition, particularly in the built environment. Drawing on my background as a mathematician, I apply my analytical thinking skills to understand complex innovation and transition issues and translate them into concrete courses of action for clients.
My mission is to contribute to a sustainable living environment: an environment in which we can live, work, and thrive in a healthy, future-proof manner, with an eye to future generations. In my work, I focus on projects that contribute to societal transitions, with major focus on the energy and heat transition in the built environment.
Depending on the project, I can take a different role. As a project leader, I ensure structure, overview, and progress. Bringing coherence and clarity comes naturally to me. In doing so, I create space for experts to delve into the substantive depth. At the same time, I maintain close contact with clients so that we jointly steer towards relevant outcomes and maximum project impact.
Alternatively, I work as a consultant on the substantive issue itself. I see myself as the one putting the puzzle together: the client has a complex issue, and together with TNO colleagues with substantive expertise, we develop a suitable solution. My added value lies in determining which puzzle pieces are which process is suitable to develop these. Then, we bring the puzzle pieces together to form a coherent and usable answer for the client.
