Successful data governance in the public sector
As a public organisation, how do you ensure that data is not only secure and available, but also delivers real value to society? The answer? Data governance.

Digitalisation provides opportunities for the societal challenges of our time, but is not a goal in itself as far as I’m concerned. I focus on ensuring that digital technologies are used in the right places and in a responsible manner, with the societal objective at its centre.
I have a background in public administration and communication sciences, two disciplines where the influence of digitalisation is significant. For example, digitalisation impacts how government fulfils its tasks and how government and citizens interact with each other. I work on various topics, such as the responsible use of data for policy or the way in which government can ensure that everyone can (continue to) participate. This second question is also central to my completed PhD research on inclusive online participation.
